The wait is over — the new OWL Ladder + Tire Carrier for the Ford Transit is here. OWL invented the Ladder + Tire Carrier, so no one knows the engineering of this product better. For the Transit, OWL didn't simply copy the Sprinter gear; they built an entirely new ladder that's stronger and lighter than anything else on the market.
Why a rear spare
In motorcycling they say "dress for the crash, not the ride" — the same holds off-road. An accessible, properly sized spare is critical gear once you leave the beaten path. Transits sit lower than Sprinters, which makes pulling a spare from under the van extremely difficult in mud, sand, or with a rear flat. Mounting it on the rear solves that.
Two products in one
Quality aluminum gear isn't cheap, so OWL builds in multi-functionality: you get an accessible spare tire and a ladder to reach the roof in one compact package. An additional footpeg and step on the side tube mean you don't need to remove the tire to climb.
Lightweight and strong
Formed entirely from lightweight US aluminum, the carrier weighs a svelte 9.5 kg — about 35% lighter than the competition, so there's far less load hanging on your door. The main structure is mandrel-bent 5 cm aluminum tube, with over 6 meters of tubing and 10+ TIG welds, making it one of the most time-consuming products OWL builds.

Warranty & replacement parts
Backed by OWL's build quality and all-aluminum TIG-welded construction. Individual parts can be replaced if needed, rather than buying the whole carrier again.
