Best Toyota Land Cruiser 250 Phone Mount in 2026. Why Every Option Falls Short (Except One)

The Land Cruiser 250 brought the badge back to a body-on-frame truck with a cabin built to last twenty years. Physical knobs, a wide centre console, two cupholders in line and a wireless pad that charges a phone you cannot see. Then someone suggests drilling the dash for a platform. Here is what exists for the 250, what each option costs you on a corrugated track, and what we built instead.

Key takeaways

  • Dash platforms hold a phone well. Most of them bolt through the dash or cover the dash top, and the bill grows with every arm and cradle
  • Vent clips rattle loose on corrugations and load a vent vane that was not built to carry anything
  • The factory wireless pad charges a phone lying flat and out of your sight line. No map, no caller, no glance
  • The Tactic Engineering mount push-fits into the front cupholder. TPU ring, no adhesive, no drilling, five seconds
  • Phone upright beside your hand, at a natural viewing angle, Qi2 charger included, up to 25 W. The rear cupholder stays free for your bottle
  • Industrial sintered nylon. It survives vibration, heat and cold. Magnetic Qi2 alignment. The phone snaps on and stays put
  • Fits the Land Cruiser 250 from 2024 onwards, left-hand and right-hand drive

The Land Cruiser 250 interior problem

Toyota built the 250's cabin for the long haul. Physical climate knobs, a chunky shifter, a wide console with two cupholders in line and a wireless charging pad ahead of them. The dash top is a broad, textured shelf. It is a cabin that will look the same at 300,000 km, provided nobody drills it.

Dash platforms are the overland answer. Offroam, ProClip and others make bases for the 250 that take a 1-inch ball or an AMPS plate, and a RAM arm with a cradle holds a phone through anything. The base is the problem. Many bolt through the dash or clamp across the dash top. Then come the arm, the cradle and a charger if you want one. The phone ends up high on the dash, reachable, but the bill and the hardware have grown.

Vent clips want a louvre that was designed to carry load. The 250's vents were not. On corrugations a clip walks loose within the hour, and the vane it hangs on is the part that breaks first.

Suction cups on the upright windscreen put the phone far from your hand and in your view of the road. Heat and cold release the cup, usually mid-track.

Adhesive and magnet pads want a flat, smooth surface. The 250's dash is textured. Pads lift at the edges in summer, leave residue when they go, and hold a phone over washboard for about a week.

The factory wireless pad does none of that damage because it hides the phone. It charges a phone lying flat ahead of the shifter, out of your sight line, sliding on braking and slow to charge through a case. CarPlay covers some of what you lose. Not all of it.

The honest assessment of each option

Dash platforms

The right concept for a truck. A RAM arm on a solid base holds a phone through anything, and companies like Offroam and ProClip make honest bases for the 250. Two costs. First, the install: most bases bolt through the dash or clamp across the dash top, and the dash is the surface you look at every day. Second, the bill: base, arm, cradle and charger add up to several times the price of a mount that drops into a cupholder. If you already own the arm and cradle and want the phone high on the dash, this remains a fair choice.

Vent clips

The cheapest route and the first to fail. A clip grips one vane. On tarmac it wobbles. On corrugations it walks loose. The vane is the first thing to break, on a vehicle built to go where parts are far away.

Suction cups

They work in a hatchback because the glass is close and sloped. In the 250 the windscreen is upright and a long reach away. The phone ends up high, far and in your view of the road. Temperature swings release the cup.

Adhesive and magnet pads

The 250's dash is textured and soft-touch. Adhesive does not like either. The pad lifts at the edges within a season, holds a phone over washboard for about a week, and leaves residue behind.

The factory wireless pad

Toyota put a Qi pad ahead of the shifter. It keeps the cabin tidy, and it charges slowly through a thick case. The phone lies flat, out of sight, and slides on braking. Fine if you run everything through CarPlay and never look at the phone. Not fine if you use Gaia or onX on the phone, take calls on video or want to see who is messaging.

DIY 3D prints

Forum files exist for the 250's cupholders, which tells you how much owners want a mount there. Desktop FDM prints warp in the heat a parked truck reaches, vibrate on corrugations until the layers separate, and nothing charges. Right idea, wrong material.

What we built

The 250 has two cupholders in line in the centre console. We tested both. The front one, closer to the dash, is where the phone belongs. It puts the screen at a natural viewing angle beside your hand without blocking your line of sight, and it leaves the rear cupholder free for your bottle. The rear one gives an awkward angle and traps the bottle behind the phone. We tried it. Wrong call.

So we built a base for the front cupholder. Sintered nylon shaped to the cupholder, with a TPU cushion ring that creates a friction lock against the walls. The ring is softer than the cupholder, so it marks nothing, and it kills rattles. On top, the included Qi2 charger snaps in: up to 25 W over USB-C with a braided cable, iPhone 12 and newer, Qi2 Android phones, any MagSafe or Qi2 case up to 3 mm. The phone attaches magnetically and stays put over corrugations, rock steps and everything in between.

Push the mount into the front cupholder. Plug in USB-C. Snap the phone on. Five seconds, no tools. Pull it out and the console is as Toyota built it.

Why not drill?

A Land Cruiser holds its value because it stays original. A dash with extra holes, a plate screwed across the top or adhesive residue is the first thing a buyer sees. A mount that lives in the cupholder leaves nothing behind.

Compatibility: Toyota Land Cruiser 250, 2024 onwards

The rule: if your Land Cruiser is the 250 series launched for 2024, with the two in-line cupholders in the centre console, this mount fits the front cupholder. Drive side is a variant choice.

Who this is for

Overlanders on corrugations

Washboard shakes vent clips loose and lifts adhesive pads. A friction-locked base in the cupholder and magnetic Qi2 alignment do not move. The phone is still there at the end of the track.

Navigation on the phone

Gaia, onX, Google Maps offline. The phone sits upright beside your hand, readable at a glance, charged when you arrive.

Families and road trippers

One phone upright in the front cupholder. The rear cupholder free for the bottle. The factory pad free for the second phone.

Owners who will not drill the dash

A 250 holds its value. A dash with extra holes does not. This mount leaves the truck as Toyota built it.

Frequently asked questions

Which cupholder does it use?

The front one, closer to the dashboard. We tested both. The front position gives a natural viewing angle without blocking your line of sight and keeps the rear cupholder free for your bottle.

Does it need drilling or adhesive?

No. The base push-fits into the front cupholder and a TPU ring holds it by friction. No tools, no adhesive, no screws. Five seconds in, five seconds out.

Left-hand drive or right-hand drive?

Both. Choose LHD or RHD when ordering.

Does it hold on corrugations?

Yes. Magnetic Qi2 alignment on a base friction-locked in the cupholder. The phone snaps on and stays put on washboard, on rock steps and on tarmac.

Is there a Quad Lock or RAM version?

Not for the 250 at the moment. The Land Cruiser mount comes as a kit with the Qi2 charger included. Any Quad Lock MAG case or MagSafe case up to 3 mm snaps onto it.

Does it work with Android phones?

Yes. Any Qi2 Android phone snaps on and charges. For phones without Qi2 magnets, a MagSafe-compatible case adds the alignment ring. Any case up to 3 mm works.

Will it mark the cupholder?

No. The TPU ring is softer than the cupholder surface. It protects the finish, kills rattles and leaves no residue.

Where does the power come from?

The included charger runs on USB-C. Plug it into a USB-C port in the console or a 12 V to USB-C adapter. A 30 W or stronger USB-C PD source gives full speed, for example our 30W Mini USB-C Car Charger.

Where is it made?

Switzerland. We design the mounts and sinter the nylon in our own workshop. Two-year warranty, spare parts always available.

Ready to fit your Land Cruiser?

A phone mount drawn for the Land Cruiser 250 cupholder. Swiss made, push-fits in five seconds, charges at up to 25 W, and leaves the truck exactly as Toyota built it.
