Porsche Cayenne Overlanding Accessories
Tactic Engineering / Vehicle File
Porsche Cayenne.
Recovery boards and RotoPax. No rack.
The first-gen Cayenne became a real overlanding platform. The body is steel. That changes everything. Magnetic mounts hold your gear directly against the panel. No roof rack. No drilling. No holes in a Porsche.
You built a Cayenne for the trail. Lift, tyres, skid plates, recovery gear. Now you need to carry boards and fuel on the outside. A roof rack costs more, weighs more, sits high, and bolts to a vehicle that was never meant to wear one. Drilling is permanent damage. Neither is good enough.
Our mounts use rubber-coated magnets that grip the steel body. Pins lock through the board holes. Four mounts hold two boards with over 200 kg of combined force. Pull the pins and the boards lift off. That is the whole system.
Fitment by generation
Magnets need steel. Porsche changed the steel-to-aluminium ratio across generations. This is the only thing that matters for fit.
The 60-second test
Take a fridge magnet to the panels where you want to mount. Sticks firmly: our mounts work there. Slides off: that panel is aluminium. Test every panel. Material changes between panels on the same car.
What fits your Cayenne
The Cayenne has curved panels. You want the curved-surface mounts. The ball-and-socket joint sits the magnet flush against the contour so you keep the full hold.

Do magnetic mounts work on a Porsche Cayenne?
Yes on the first-gen 955/957. The body is primarily steel. Doors, side panels, quarter panels and rear panels hold. The 958 is mixed and needs the magnet test. The 9YA is aluminium and not compatible.
Will they fall off on rough terrain?
Each magnet holds 55 kg. Four mounts on two boards give over 200 kg of combined force. Customers run these on desert tracks and rocky trails.
Will the magnets damage the paint?
No. The magnets are rubber-coated. Every kit includes transparent protective stickers for the contact area.
What about the Touareg and Q7?
First-gen Touareg and Q7 share the platform and a similar steel body. Run the magnet test to confirm on your car. Owners of both use our mounts.
