Magnetic Awning Support - Thule Omnistor & Thule Hideaway
Trusted by the industry

Magnetic awning support for Thule Omnistor and Thule Hideaway awning legs. Drop the leg into the nylon foot. The magnetic base anchors it to the side of your van or to any steel surface. No drilling, no spikes, no guy lines. Mounted in seconds.
Will it hold on your van?
The magnet needs steel underneath. Most van side panels are steel. Some are not, and a few vans mix the two — steel body, aluminium doors.
Ten-second test. Put a fridge magnet on the panel where the foot will sit. If you have to pull to get it off, the mount holds. If it slides or drops, that panel is aluminium and no magnet will work on it.
| Steel panel | Holds. This is most vans. |
|---|---|
| Aluminium panel | Does not hold. No magnet does. |
| Curved or ribbed | Pick a flat area. The magnet needs full contact — any air gap reduces the hold. |
| Paint, wrap, dirt | Clean the panel first. Anything between the magnet and the steel costs hold force. |
Still not sure? Send us your van — make, model and year. We will tell you which panels hold.

Anchor the awning. Not the ground.
An awning that is not anchored moves. The legs wander. The fabric flexes in the wind. The ground is the usual answer, and it rarely cooperates — gravel, rock and tarmac do not take a stake. So you fix it to the van. Three ways exist. One without a catch.
| Ground stakes | Need soft ground. Gravel, rock and tarmac say no. Slow where you actually park. |
|---|---|
| Drilled bracket | Holes in the panel. Water in. Rust after. Resale value down. Permanent. |
| Vacuum mount | Re-pump every 2–3 hours. Worse when the panel is hot. The panel is hot when you want shade. |
| Tactic magnet | 56 kg pull per magnet. No holes. No pump. Move the van, it comes with it. |
