Compatibility Check

Will it work on your vehicle?

Our magnetic mounts bond directly to steel body panels. Select your vehicle below to check compatibility instantly.

Not sure?

The 10-second magnet test

1
Grab any magnet from your fridge, kitchen, or toolbox.
2
Place it on the body panel where you'd mount the product — roof, side panel, or rear door.
3
If it sticks firmly, you're good. Our 55 kg-force magnets will hold with no issues. If it slides or barely holds, your panel may be aluminum or composite — contact us and we'll find a solution.

Magnetic Mounts for Curved Surfaces — MaxTrax MK2 / LITE / XTREME

Mount your MaxTrax on roofs, hoods and sloping panels where flat mounts will not sit. Adjustable joints conform to the curvature, so all four magnets make full contact.

Built for the panels that are not flat

Our standard MaxTrax mounts are designed for flat surfaces. This kit is for everything else — curved roofs, sloping hoods and any non-flat panel where you want to carry your recovery boards. The magnets sit on adjustable joints that conform to the surface curvature, giving you full contact and maximum hold.

Hold

Four rubberized magnets

56 kg pull force each. Pull force is measured when pulling straight off the surface. In real-world use, lateral forces — pushing or pulling sideways — are around 17 kg per magnet.

Geometry

Adjustable joints

Each magnet pivots to conform to curved and uneven surfaces.

Fit

MaxTrax MK2, LITE, XTREME

Pins included. They insert into the MaxTrax board recesses and snap into place. Supports two boards.

Paintwork

Protection stickers included

Transparent paint protection stickers go on the vehicle before mounting.

Installation

  • Apply the included transparent stickers on your vehicle to protect the paint before mounting.
  • Insert the magnets into your MaxTrax board recesses and let them snap into place.
  • Position the boards on the curved surface — the adjustable joints conform to the curvature.
  • No tools needed.
Anti-theft option

An optional anti-theft cable with marine-grade lock, sold separately, secures your boards on exposed surfaces like roofs and hoods.

What is in the kit

  • 4× rubberized magnets with adjustable joints for curved surfaces
  • Pins for MaxTrax boards
  • 4× transparent paint protection stickers

Will it hold on your vehicle?

The rule: the magnets need steel underneath. They are not compatible with aluminum or composite bodies.

Steel surfaces Curved roofs, hoods and sloping panels

Does not hold

Need flat surface mounts instead?

If you are mounting on flat side panels — doors, quarter panels, tailgate — our standard mounts are the better fit.

The original. Invented here.

Tactic Engineering designed the first magnetic mounts for camper vans, in December 2021. Every product is designed, produced and hand-assembled in Switzerland. If you have seen similar products elsewhere, they are copies of ours.

Engineered in Switzerland and manufactured in carbon fiber reinforced plastic through 3D printing. Each part is inspected and tested to withstand high temperatures and heavy loads. Minor surface imperfections may be visible due to the manufacturing process. They do not affect performance.
