Overview
OWL Vans invented the hinge-mounted tire carrier in 2018. Since then the system has been refined to be lighter, stronger, and easier to install — and with millions of customer miles behind it, it is among the most tested rear-door carriers in the world.
The current version uses an all-TIG-welded aluminum frame that carries either a spare tire or a box (box mounting tabs sold separately), while keeping the proven structure and mounting points OWL Vans is known for. Engineered for harsh roads and demanding environments, it is built for years of reliable, daily service.

Lightweight all-TIG-welded aluminum frame, finished in black dual-layer powder coat over a self-healing base primer.

Mounts to the hinges and requires a single drilled hole in the door, with a mistake-free template included. Roughly a 20-minute job.
No weatherstrip cutting
Designed to avoid cutting or modifying door weatherstripping — a common failure point of “no-drill” systems that can lead to water leaks over time.

Specifications
Fitment & hinge requirements
Fits the 2019+ Mercedes Sprinter VS30 and 2020+ Revel (VS30), in both 2500 and 3500 vans. Larger 35″ tires can be fitted but may require slight modification of the plastic emblem.
The carrier requires 180° door hinges. If you do not have 180° hinges — or you are unsure — confirm against the product images before ordering; 180° hinges can be added to your order.
Be cautious with no-drill rear-door systems. Many require cutting or modifying door weatherstripping and can lead to water leaks over time.
