Magnetic Quick Release — Generic Recovery Boards
Magnetic quick-release mounts for any standard recovery board. No rack. No drilling. No glue. Tool-free installation in under a minute.
How it works
The magnets hold against the steel body of your vehicle. The quick-release pins pass through the board and lock it to the mounts. When you need the boards, pull the pins and they come off in your hands.
No rack. No drilling. No glue. Tactic Engineering designed the first magnetic mounts for camper vans, in December 2021. Every part is designed and manufactured in Switzerland, hand-assembled in-house.
Will it hold on your vehicle?
The rule: the magnet needs steel underneath. Our mounts bond directly to steel body panels, so they work on any vehicle that is not built from aluminium.

What's in the kit
Each board needs two magnetic mounts. Pick the kit that matches the number of boards you carry.
4-mount kit — carries 2 boards
4 rubber-coated neodymium magnets (90 mm Ø). 4 quick-release pins in carbon-fibre reinforced plastic. 4 transparent paint-protection stickers.
8-mount kit — carries 4 boards
8 rubber-coated neodymium magnets (90 mm Ø). 8 quick-release pins in carbon-fibre reinforced plastic. 8 transparent paint-protection stickers.
The transparent stickers sit between magnet and panel to keep the paintwork free of scratches. Compatible with most standard recovery boards on the market.

Using MaxTrax or TRED boards?
We make dedicated mounts with an exact fit for specific brands. If you know your board model, take the right one:
- MaxTrax MK2 / LITE / XTREME — quick-release magnetic mounts designed specifically for MaxTrax recovery boards.
- TRED GT / HD / PRO — dedicated magnetic mounts for ARB / TRED recovery boards.
Designed, produced and hand-assembled in Switzerland
The plastic part of the pins is printed in carbon-fibre reinforced composite — one of the most expensive materials we can buy. It makes the pins durable and resistant to heat and impact.
Fabrication method. Our products are made with advanced 3D printing and the highest quality materials available. That method leaves minor marks: visible layers, slight waviness. We separate anything with a noticeable defect and ship only what meets our standard. These are not injection-moulded pieces.
Does 3D printing change anything for you? Not really. You may see very thin layers in the plastic. It is far less pronounced than on the common 3D prints you see elsewhere, because this composite is printed at 270 °C — it withstands extremely high temperatures before it deforms.

Tactic Engineering invented the magnetic vehicle mount. Designed and prototyped in Switzerland, stress-tested on the road, first units shipped in December 2021. Every magnetic mount on the market today came after ours.
The biggest names in the van and off-road industry sell our product, not the copies that showed up four years later. Because this is what we do, and we do it from Switzerland.
