Trusted by the industry

Magnetic Quick Release — Generic Recovery Boards (Curved Surfaces)
Magnetic quick-release mounts for any standard recovery board, engineered for curved panels. Fenders, wheel arches, cab and door curvature, swingouts. No rack. No drilling. No glue.
How it works on curved panels
Each magnet sits on an articulating joint that pivots to match the curvature of the panel. The result is full magnet-to-panel contact on fenders, wheel arches, cab and door curvature, and swingouts. Quick-release pins lock the boards in. Pull the pins and the boards come off in seconds.
Tactic Engineering designed the first magnetic mounts for camper vans, in December 2021. Every part is designed and manufactured in Switzerland — including this curved-surface variant with adjustable joints.
Where it holds
The rule: the magnet needs ferromagnetic steel underneath. Curved or flat makes no difference to this version — the joint takes care of the geometry.

Pick your curved-surface kit
Each board needs two magnetic mounts with adjustable joints. Pick the kit that matches the number of boards you carry on fenders, wheel arches, cab curvature or swingouts.
4-mount kit — carries 2 boards
4 rubber-coated neodymium magnets (90 mm Ø) with adjustable joints. 4 quick-release pins in carbon-fibre reinforced plastic. 4 transparent paint-protection stickers sized for curved panels.
8-mount kit — carries 4 boards
8 rubber-coated neodymium magnets (90 mm Ø) with adjustable joints. 8 quick-release pins in carbon-fibre reinforced plastic. 8 transparent paint-protection stickers sized for curved panels.
Compatible with most standard recovery boards on the market.

We make dedicated curved-surface mounts for those brands:
How it compares
Drilled bracket
Flat backing plate only. Often made in Asia. No pull strength to quote. Typically one year of warranty.
Magnetic look-alike
Flat base — gaps on curves. Often made in Asia. Pull strength usually unspecified.
Tactic Engineering
Adjustable joints for full contact on fenders, arches and swingouts. Designed and manufactured in Switzerland. 56 kg per magnet, contact maintained on curves. Two years of warranty.
Questions we get about curves
- Will these work on my van's fenders, wheel arches or cab curvature? Yes. That is what this variant is built for. The adjustable joint behind each magnet pivots to conform to the panel. On ferromagnetic steel you get full magnet-to-panel contact and the full 56 kg pull per magnet.
- What if my surface is part curved, part flat? The joint flexes when it needs to and sits flush when the panel is flat, so one kit handles mixed geometry on the same vehicle.
- How tight a curve can it handle? It is designed for the radii you meet on van and 4x4 fenders, wheel arches, hoods, swingouts and door curvature.
- Will it work on my vehicle? It works on any ferromagnetic steel panel, flat or curved. It will not work on aluminium bodies — Land Rover, Range Rover, new Ford Bronco. Run the compatibility check if you are unsure.
Specifications
The original. Invented here.
We invented magnetic mounts for recovery boards — flat and curved. Long before the copycats arrived we were already selling magnetic recovery board supports to overlanders worldwide.
The biggest names in the van and off-road industry sell our product, not the copies that showed up four years later. Because this is what we do, and we do it from Switzerland — including the curved-panel version you are looking at now.
